It is with immense pleasure that I stumbled upon this one while in search of an elusive Ross’s Turaco. Its patience and grace are truly admirable. This particular kind likes to hunt for its food a safe distance from the waters. I’ve noted it to love grassy areas and marshes.

For beautiful pictures of its sister, the Great Blue Heron, find them on the blog below

  1. Thank you so much for linking to the great blue heron story on my blog. I have never seen a black-headed heron before, and I share your excitement that you were able to see and photograph this one! Congrats.
